Carnival is an excellent time of year to visit Porto! This year Surfivor will throw some wood in the fireplace and turn up the heat, as the cold gives way to partying! And of course lots of surfing.
In Porto, street entertainment is guaranteed. During Carnival everyone takes to the street in full costume: anything goes! Naturally the bars and clubs throw epic parties all night long. The best nightlife is usually Galleries de Paris. But as always at Surfivor, we can make the party wherever we are.
For an authentic Carnival experience, head down to Ovar, 50 mins on the train south of Porto. Here you will find one of the most authentic Carnival celebrations in Portugal. Samba schools flaunt their moves on Carnival Saturday and the city bans cars in the centre on Carnival Monday. Partygoers can don their masks and run through the streets. And the best part is that trains run all night long.
WINTER SURF CAMP
Come surf and celebrate Carnival with us! Winter is a great and highly underrated time to surf in Porto. Matosinhos bay calms those big winter swells and the harbor wall protects us from the wind. The winter thins out the crowds and we have all the equipment needed to stay warm in the water.
